When choosing a Parent Care Consultant is important to understand the beliefs and values of the firm to make sure that your values match their values to see if there is the basis for a long and meaningful relationship.
We would like to share with you some of our beliefs and values that have evolved over fifteen years of assisting clients in retirement, estate planning and Parent Care planning.
.
Our Beliefs:
1. Independent and unbiased advice is what client’s desire.
When clients meet with a prospective parent care consultant, they want to know that that the advisor has the moral values of honesty and the virtue of putting the client’s interest above their own. This belief comes from the biblical lesson that we should “treat others as we would want to be treated.”
Kevin joined LPL Financial and has been trained by Dan Taylor, author of the book The Parent Care Conversations to allow him the unbiased perspective to provide the most honest and objective recommendations that will benefit the clients. Kevin has no loyalty to a company or a company product. This allows him to make recommendations that are truly in the best interest of the client.
2. "That we are all ignorant...just in different subjects..."
This quote by Will Rogers is often understood by many but not communicated by many advisors or parent care consultants. Every industry has its own jargon and words specific to that industry. When clients speak to a parent care consultant, they want to move beyond the jargon to understand the key concepts and strategies they need to know to reach their retirement, estate planning, and parent care goals.
With over 13 years on radio and television, Kevin puts the financial and parent care world in language people can understand and he seeks to create the atmosphere that clients are comfortable with. Each week on The “Parent Care Show” Kevin explains the details of Parent Care that helps people take the appropriate actions. This atmosphere can help you with informed parent care decisions. Many clients comment that they now understand their retirement, estate planning, and parent care decisions better than ever.
3. Clients want to have their total financial world
organized and in one place.
Most clients’ financial world is impacted by a piece of congressional legislation they have never heard of called “The Glass-Stegal Act of 1938”. This legislation put a barrier between the depository banking industry and the investment banking industry. When Kevin meets with clients and families who are moving toward retirement, he find that their financial information is in many separate pieces at several different locations; for instance, some are at the CPA’s office, some at the attorney’s office, some at the brokerage firm, some in the pension and 401(k) plan, and some at the insurance office.
These disjointed approach to financial matters leaves many retirees and their adult children feeling like they don’t know how all the pieces fit together and what pieces may be missing. At Parent Care Consultants, we seek to pull these parts of the financial and estate plan together into an integrated retirement, estate plan and parent care plan. By using the Wealth Management System the financial aspects of the parent care plan can get organized and remained organized. This step is greatly appreciated by families that move into the advanced stages of parent care.
4. Clients want a long term relationship with a firm that
they can trust to provide the highest quality service and expertise available.
5. Educated clients make informed decisions about their financial world.
“When the student is ready…the teacher will come.” Kevin enjoys teaching and the clients of Parent Care Consultants, LLC enjoy learning. We provide many sources for clients to learn about the financial world.
We provide sound financial education through:
- Workshops
- CD’s of Radio Shows
- Client Appreciation Events
- Radio & TV
We believe that our services are not for everyone.
We know that there are at least three types of personalities in the financial world. The firm invites clients to look at their own personality to see if an advisor relationship is actually desired.
The money personal types include:
1. Delegators: These individuals don’t like to think or study about money. They prefer to run their own business or plan their next retirement vacations. This type looks for a trusted advisor that they know has their best interest at heart and they delegate much of the task to this advisor. 95% of our clients at Parent Care Consultants, LLC are classified in this type of personality.
2. Affirmers: These individuals like to have a higher measure of control over their financial matters. They believe they have 80% of their financial matters in order but “don’t know what they don’t know” and would like to engage and advisor to help them close the gap. Some of them were affirmers by default because they never found an advisor they felt knew more than they knew. About 5% of the clients of Parent Care Consultants fall into this category.
3. Stock gurus: These individuals are primarily “do-it-yourselfers” who are not looking for an advisor relationship. Instead, they seek another web site or a book to read. Kevin relates with this personality type on the radio show and through email. Any person in this category would not be a right fit for a relationship with the advisors at Parent Care Consultants, LLC.
Parent Care Consultants seek to help prospective clients determine which of these money personality types best describes them and if our firm is a right fit for what they are seeking in a financial advisor.
Our Values:
Value is the key to a long-term relationship. We seek to provide the highest value possible to our clients.
In the world of financial decision making, we often make our financial and parent care decisions based on “price” or based on “value”. One has well said that “price is a problem” only in the absence of perceived value.
Parent Care Consultants, LLC seek to deliver the highest level of value through education, customer service, and client contact.
If you are or your parents are retired, you will want to call Parent Care Consultants, LLC to make sure that you have a comprehensive parent care plan in place.
Parent Care Consultants, LLC take pride in developing a personal relationship with our clients and their children and assisting them with their long-term family planning needs. If you are looking for a firm that you can grow old with and who will be there to take care of your spouse and children when you are not here, we should consider developing a long term planning relationship. If you are looking for a quick fix or a brief meeting, we are not the firm you should choose.
One has well said that “a fear greater than dying” is the “fear of out living your money.” With an understanding of the many financial and emotional aspects of retirement, estate planning, and Parent Care our mission is to assist clients with a unique planning process to allow them and their families to move toward financial peace of mind in their retirement years.
